Carbon steel orifice flange is different from threaded flange. Orifice flange is used a device to measure flow rate in pipe for reducing measure or for restricting flow. Orifice flange has a hole in the middle. When medium arrive at orifice flange, medium are forced to pass through the small hole on orifice flange. The point of maximum convergence actually occurs shortly downstream of the physical orifice, at the vena point. Then the velocity and the pressure change. Flow rate of medium can be shown directly on orifice meters.
